Driving Instructor - (Whatcom, Skagit, King, and Snohomish Counties, WA)
Bal Driving School has been serving the Washington community since 2008. We teach teens and adults how to drive safely and confidently. We take pride in preparing new drivers with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed on the road.
We have multiple locations in Bellingham, Lynnwood, and Mount Vernon, and we operate a DOL-approved testing center. Our courses focus on practical driving skills, defensive driving, and final road test preparation.
We are looking for experienced and licensed driving instructors in the state of Washington. No prior experience? No problem—we offer comprehensive training for the right candidate.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $25.00 – $35.00 per hour
Expected Hours: 20 – 35 per week (must be available weekdays and weekends)

Job Description:
Teach new drivers the way of the road! At Bal Driving School, you’ll have the opportunity to:
Teach Driver’s Ed classes via Zoom or in person
Provide behind-the-wheel lessons to students of all ages
Proctor knowledge exams and skills exams as a state-approved examiner
Make a meaningful difference by shaping the next generation of safe drivers
Note: Instructors must be available to work on weekdays, weekends, and evenings, as needed, to accommodate class and testing schedules.
Ideal Candidate Will:
Be kind, courteous, and professional
Have a passion for helping others succeed
Enjoy driving and sharing that passion with students
Remain calm under stressful circumstances
Be adaptable and able to respond to changing situations
Have experience working with youth or adults
Have classroom teaching experience (preferred)
Have strong computer and technical skills
Be comfortable with public speaking and engaging with groups
Be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
Be content with part-time employment, with potential for more hours in the summer
Preferred Background
Police, fire, first responders, military, and teachers are highly valued, but not required. We provide 60–100 hours of state-mandated training, depending on your level of experience.
WA State Requirements
To qualify, you must meet Washington State Department of Licensing (DOL) standards:
Valid Washington State driver’s license
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
Licensed driver for at least 5 years
At least 21 years of age
Clean driving and criminal record for the past 5 years
Pass a pre-employment background check
Driving record requirements:
No more than 1 moving violation in the past 12 months OR 2 in the past 24 months
No drug/alcohol-related violations in the past 3 years
No license suspensions, cancellations, revocations, or denials in the past 2 years
No more than 2 in the past 5 years
Note: Applicants are responsible for paying fingerprinting, background check, and DOL licensing fees (approx. $200).
What We Offer
Part-time position with 20-35 hours per week, more hours available in summer
100 hours of paid training, including 60 hours of in-car instruction and 40 hours of classroom instruction
