The test will happen in our vehicle. The 30-minute brush-up is a drive right before your test in which we refresh you on what to watch for and get you more comfortable in the car. (The test fee is included)

The Skills/Drive test scores are sent electronically to the Department of Licensing within 24 hours, but passing the test doesn't guarantee a driver’s license. The DOL determines if all licensing requirements are met and reserves the right to retest applicants randomly and at no cost.

You'll be tested on:

  • Starting your vehicle

  • Controlling the vehicle, including using gas, brakes, steering wheel, and adjusting speed appropriately

  • Driving in traffic, like using proper lanes, signaling, changing lanes carefully, following other vehicles safely, and checking blind spots.

  • Obeying traffic signals and signs, such as turning correctly and safely and navigating intersections

  • Stopping smoothly and at the right spot, including emergency stops

  • Backing up safely and in a straight line, controlling the vehicle

  • Judging distance from other vehicles or pedestrians

  • Respecting others' rights by being courteous and paying full attention to driving tasks

  • Performing specific maneuvers like signaling turns, emergency stops, parking on a hill, parallel parking, and safely backing into traffic from a driveway or alley

  • An assessment report measures your cognitive ability to drive securely and confidently. In addition to the examination, we offer tailored guidance to equip you with proactive driving strategies.

    This assessment report primarily caters to elderly individuals who may benefit from evaluating their driving abilities. It is a valuable resource for those seeking to assess and potentially enhance their skills behind the wheel. Additionally, it offers insights into areas of improvement, aiming to promote road safety and confidence among older drivers.

  • You can retake the Skills/Drive test as many times as necessary with no waiting period to pass. However, a fee will be applied each time you take the test.
